Lyrics

Mother Earth

Withering heartbeat of a broken land
Sustenance dissolves through the ignorance of man
Rapid increase towards destruction of our home
Where our children’s children will be left to roam
Shh listen closely and hear Mother Earth cry
Then see her die

Creators of our own demise
Extinction, pollution and war
Nuclear lives expel nuclear waster
Seeping landfills disguised as a park
Poor Mother Earth we go—we go too far

But no one’s concerned—they say God will save us all
As the airplanes crowd the sky and the freeways crawl
Desensitization through love of material things
Old trees, young animals killed for products they bring

Then you hear—hear Mother Earth cry
Then you see—see Mother Earth die

Consumers of this small fragile world
Mass production, power and greed
Factories shooting clouds of black smoke
To accommodate such frivolous need
Poor Mother Earth we go---we go too far

But no one’s concerned—they say God will make a way
As the oceans fill with trash and the fish decay
Demand for supply as the population explodes
Forests that soon disappear and the soil erodes

Then you hear—hear Mother Earth cry
Then you see—see Mother Earth die
